Confirmed: Samsung Galaxy Tablet Coming to Verizon Wireless

Earlier this month I mentioned how some folks managed to get their hands on a screenshot of Verizon’s inventory which seemed to show that two different SKUs of the Android-powered Galaxy tablet are in the works, meaning the chances are pretty high that Verizon will be carrying the Galaxy Tablet within the next month or two.

That rumor has been confirmed in a story by the Wall Street Journal which reports that several insiders have said that Samsung has in fact cut distribution deals with Verizon Wireless along with Sprint, and AT&T.

The Samsung Galaxy Tablet will reportedly sport a 7in screen with the following reported specs:

Front and rear cameras for video conferencing, photos, videos, augmented reality, etc
Android 2.2: hotspot, Adobe Flash and super fast browser
1024×600 widescreen Super-AMOLED display (reportedly)
GPS for mapping, navigation
Phone calling abilities

“While a price hasn’t been set, Samsung product executive Hankil Yoon said in an interview last week that it would likely retail for between $200 and $300, although the final price would vary depending on different carriers’ subsidies,” reads the story. “Mr. Yoon expects to ship 10 million units and take a third of the global tablet market next year. Verizon is still considering whether to subsidize the device, a person familiar with the matter said.”

A number of companies are lining up to develop a so-called “iPad killer.”

Samsung Fascinate Now Available On Verizon Wireless

Verizon Wireless and Samsung have announced that beginning today the Samsung Fascinate, a Galaxy S smartphone available only Verizon, is available online and in Verizon Wireless Communications Stores on Sept. 9 for $199.99 with a new two-year customer agreement.

The Samsung Fascinate is powered by Android 2.1, the Fascinate, according to Samsung, “refines” customers’ social networking experiences with its Super AMOLED Screen Technology, advanced touch screen capabilities, Samsung 1 GHz Cortex A8 Hummingbird Application Processor, and virtual QWERTY keyboard featuring SWYPE technology. Additionally, the Fascinate comes pre-loaded with Amazon’s Kindle for Android app, and it boasts an array of accessories, including:

Charging Cradle – $29.99.
Car Dock – $39.99.
Backup Battery Charging System – $39.99.

Samsung Fascinate customers will need to subscribe to a Verizon Wireless Nationwide Talk plan (beginning at $39.99 p/mo) and an Email and Web for Smartphone plan (beginning at $29.99 p/mo for unlimited access).

Verizon Announces the Samsung Fascinate

Today Verizon Wireless and Samsung announced the upcoming availability of the Samsung Fascinate, a Galaxy S smartphone.

Powered by Android 2.1, the Fascinate is equipped with support for Google Mobile Services, including, Gmail, YouTube, Android Market, and more. Additionally, the Fascinate boasts a 4-inch Super AMOLED touch screen display, Samsung 1GHz Cortex A8 Hummingbird Application Processor, and an integrated entertainment, multimedia, messaging and social networking experience.

The Samsung Fascinate will sport a Virtual QWERTY Keyboard, a 5.0-megapixel camera/camcorder with Auto-focus and LED flash with HD video recording and playback (720p), Wi-Fi Connectivity, and 2GB of internal memory expandable to 32GB, 16GB microSD included with handset

There’s no word yet on the exact dates of availability or pricing, but stay tuned.
