When the Wall Street Journal reported this past Monday night on an apparently imminent Verizon iPhone, the newspaper started a clamor of speculation and online searches for news of a release date.
The report repeated what many had already surmised, that Apple was working to bring its wildly popular smartphone to the Verizon network.
According to the Journal, customers may have to wait until the fall as mass production isn’t scheduled to begin until September, but some reports have it appearing as early as June.
The news is significant because many iPhone customers have complained of poor service from AT&T, and the carrier has acknowledged that its data network has been unacceptably slow during peak hours in cities with a high concentration of iPhone users, such as San Francisco and New York.
